Jan is a founding member of the Edmonton Pride Seniors Group (EPSG) and among other involvements has served for many years on the EPSG Housing Feasibility Committee. She is a recently retired real estate professional with extensive experience in property acquisition and right-of-way negotiation, demonstrating effective collaboration and solution skills. Jan has served in executive capacities for the International Right of Way Association.
In the 1980s she delivered job creation programs for the federal government and in the 2000s ran a small home-based manufacturing business with a national and international client base. She has also been both a stage manager and production manager in theatre and dance. She is a Commissioner for Oaths in Alberta.
Jan’s volunteer contributions are wide-ranging: Habitat for Humanity, Youth Empowerment and Support Services, Women in Need Shelter, Mojito Golf Tournament to fundraise for social work scholarships, Pergola Co-Housing Initiative, Summit in Riverdale Condo Association, Alberta Committee of Disabled Citizens, Northern Alberta Brain Injury Society (NABIS), Local Heroes, John Howard Society, Big Sisters Society, Planned Parenthood, Aurora Synchronized Swim Club, DuMaurier 1996 LPGA Classic, McGraine Legion # 28, Public Legal Education Network of Alberta, Legal Resource Centre, Yardbird Suite (Edmonton Jazz Society), Edmonton Women’s Film Society, Kompany – A performing Dance Troupe, Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Summerfest, and Northwest Media Network. In her spare time, Jan participates in Edmonton Vocal Minority and Curling with Pride.
Jan holds a BA (Specialized) in Recreation Administration and designations from the International Right of Way Association SR/WA and RW (NAC); and previously earned a journeyman designation in landscape gardening.
