Born and raised in Vancouver, degrees earned from: University of Victoria, British Columbia and Western Washington, Thais’ an educator and educational program developer by training. However, her desire to be self-employed and independent, led to a current and continuing 35 year old insurance and investment business. Interest in “community” led her to involvement in church committees, projects, and Board leadership. This leadership activitycontinued with activist groups, The Greater Edmonton Alliance and The Pride Centre of Edmonton.
Interest in “aging” began at 40 and led her to becoming a palliative care volunteer and to working with clients and financial advisors to do the important work of planning for the “care years” part of retirement life. Since the beginning, Thais’ participation in the work of The Edmonton Pride Seniors Group, has provided opportunities to use experiences and to develop new ways of working with and giving back to others.
